About Me

Hi, my name is Peter, and I’m a software programmer and game developer, my journey in programming started three decades ago, at a time when the internet was practically nonexistent, and tools like StackOverflow, Google, or YouTube were unheard of. My beginnings involved painfully learning from printed manuals that came with microcomputers like the ZX Spectrum or Commodore 64. Spending hours in front of the TV – yes, it was an era of TV as a monitor – I studied instructions step by step, absorbing the basics of programming along with technological advancements. With each experiment, I gained not only knowledge but also increasing confidence in the field of computer technology and my hunger of knowledge.

Over the years, I explored various platforms, languages, and technologies. I also developed an interest in electronics and designing my own devices. Fascination with technological possibilities drove me towards continuous development and seeking new challenges. From the very beginning, I dreamed of creating my own game, which in those days meant building my own game engine from scratch – from rendering, through game state saving, to handling sound and file formats for maps and models.

It’s worth mentioning that back then, tools like Blender, VS Code, etc. were unavailable, and program optimization required assembler inserts and a deep understanding of the processor and computer architecture down to the motherboard level. Over that years, I mastered a range of programming languages, including Basic, Assembler, C, C++, C#, Turbo Pascal, PHP, Python, SQL, JS, TS, Dart, and a few lesser-known more exotic ones. I also experimented with various hardware platforms, ranging from the ZX Spectrum and desktop PCs to microcontrollers like PIC, AVR, and ARM. My greatest passion is programming of course, and I would particularly like to dedicate myself to the GameDev industry. For me, game development is not just a job but also a way to express my creativity and passion for technology.

Looking back, I realize that not sharing my achievements online was a significant mistake, which has led to me being just a small dot on the internet map today. I now see that sharing knowledge and experience is crucial not only for personal development but also for building a programming community. Therefore, I have decided to change my approach and actively participate in the online community by publishing articles and sharing my projects and knowledge.

Looking to the future, I see many exciting possibilities ahead. I want to continue working on my own projects, develop my skills, and inspire others to action. Whether it’s creating new games, participating in innovative projects, or sharing knowledge with others, I am ready for the next challenges and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Additionally, I enjoy photography and movie techniques, I love cats and heavy campers. I am old school guy, who has behind me – quite literally – a library of books – there are many of them… too many… after crossing a thousand volumes, I stopped counting… Woodworking is also a relaxing hobby, a craft that requires patience and precision, capable of calming the clutter of thoughts – as well as getting on nerves until face turn red.
